Ministries

Adult and Youth Ushers

The Usher Ministry serves as an integral part of the church worship experience.  Ushers are considered doorkeepers and as such greet members and visitors with a kind, friendly, and pleasant demeanor, and they help create an atmosphere of genuine warmth and welcome for all in attendance at the church. 

Meetings are held monthly.

CD

The CD Ministry is designed to promote continuation of the worship experience throughout the entire week by providing an audio recording of each service including afternoon programs, annual days, and revivals.

Christian Education

The Christian Education Ministry develops comprehensive educational programs that gives guidance to planning, coordinating, operating and evaluating programs, including Sunday school, to train members and committees in order to equip all believers to become involved in doing Kingdom work. 

It is our goal to provide the best Christian education training possible, so that we all can be witnesses.

Meetings are held monthly.

Deacon

The Deacon Ministry is responsible for giving leadership to worship service, visiting the sick and shut-in, and keeping an active record of those who are sick, shut-in, or hospitalized.

Meetings are held monthly.

Deaconess

The Deaconess Ministry serves God's people through spiritual care to those who are in need in the church, community, hospitals, nursing homes, and to any who may be in distress.  In addition, the deaconesses set up the Lord's Supper and help female candidates prepare for baptism.

Meetings are held monthly.

Drug Awareness

The Drug Awareness Ministry helps to identify and welcome into a support group those members of the church and broader community who are suffering from substance abuse.  They are responsible for educating and enhancing members' awareness about the dangers and health risks of consuming drugs.

Meetings are held as needed. 

Homebound

This ministry compassionately caters to the needs of the sick, disabled, and long-term shut-ins.

Meetings are held as needed.

Music

The primary focus of the Music Ministry is to provide music for all worship services.  It is designed to help the congregation develop a spiritual mind and attitude toward worship, to improve the flow in our worship service, and to help the congregation gain a richer and more meaningful spiritual experience through songs of praise and worship.


New Members

The New Members Ministry is responsible for planning and directing a program that involves all new members in the life and program of the church.

Outreach

This ministry is dedicated to reaching people with the Good News of Jesus Christ by evangelizing and ministering to the spiritual needs of the community.

Meetings are held as needed.

Prayer Partners

This ministry serves to help new members feel welcome by being a real friend and making it their business to see them at Sunday school and worship service for at least six weeks, introducing them to other members, praying with them and for them, and encouraging spiritual growth through prayer.

Meetings are held as needed.

Prison

This ministry compassionately ministers to the spiritual needs of those who are incarcerated, ex-prisoners, victims and their families.  They serve as an example of Christian conduct and teach those who are in prison about Jesus, the doctrine of salvation, and God's love for them.

Sunday School

The focus of the Sunday school department is to nurture growth in Christian education through teaching Biblical doctrine, to lift each other up in prayer, and to promote genuine Christian fellowship so everyone can come together in brotherly love. 

Trustee

The Trustee Ministry is responsible for maintenance and housekeeping of all church buildings, grounds and equipment.

Meetings are held monthly.

Van

The Van Ministry provides transportation for members to attend worship services and church activities.  When given ample notice, the van ministry will provide transportation for senior church members to vote, attend doctor's appointments, grocery store, and any other necessary outing that they would not be able to attend otherwise.

Youth

The Youth Ministry is responsible for developing a comprehensive educational program for youth, with emphasis on developing character, and assisting the Church in addressing the spiritual, emotional, social, and developmental needs of youth ages 7-19. 

Young Adult

The Young Adult Ministry is open to all members of the Church who are between the ages of nineteen to thirty-five years old. This is a ministry that offers an outlet where young adults at Pleasant View can fellowship, grow in their Christian journey, support each other, and spread the word about God and the church in order to draw more young adults to the Lord.



COMMITTEES

Beautification

The Beautification Committee coordinates and assists with maintenance and upkeep of the church's properties.  They oversee enhancement of the beauty of the church edifice and grounds, and assist with neighborhood beautification projects and encourage community cleanliness.

Black Awareness 

The Black Awareness Committee provides activities that educate and promote the religious, cultural, and racial heritage of African Americans. 

Church Anniversary

The Church Anniversary Committee is responsible for planning an annual celebration to commemorate our church anniversary. 

Culinary

The Culinary Committee is responsible for supervising and operating the church kitchen and Jackson Fellowship Hall, and preparing food for church fellowship functions.

Meetings are held as needed.

Educational Awareness

The Educational Awareness Committee serves to support our youth and adults through scholarships and awards given at the graduate luncheon each year.  In addition, the committee forwards information about grants and scholarships that are community-based. 

Meetings are generally held the first Monday of each month.

Hospitality

This committee extends a helping hand and friendly spirit to church members and church guests.

Meetings are held as needed.

Investment Council

The Investment Council was formed to oversee the church's investments that are directly associated with the stocks and bonds market.

Meetings are held on the third Monday of the last month in each quarter.

 
Library

The Library Committee is responsible for upkeep of the library so that it may serve as a source of reference and spiritual encouragement through books, tapes, and other like materials for members of the church.

The chairperson may call meetings as needed.

Marquis/Bulletin Boards

The Marquis/Bulletin Boards Committee is responsible for changing the outside marquis with messages provided by the pastor, and handling requests for bulletin boards usage.

The chairperson shall call meetings as needed.

Newsletter

This committee is responsible for providing a medium for the church and its ministries to share information with the congregation and community, and for gathering information from the congregation for the purpose of publication in a quarterly newsletter.  This information includes, but is not limited to, a note from the pastor, news about members, events in the church, meeting notices, and inspirational articles. 

Members of this committee meet at least once a quarter, before the release of the current quarter's newsletter.

Nominating

The Nominating Committee was formed to coordinate staffing of all leadership positions filled by volunteer workers.

Meetings are held as needed.

Pastor's Aid

The Pastor's Aid Committee aims to work for a unified entity and harmony between the pastor, his family, the church body, and the community.

Informal meetings are held as needed.

Public Relations

The Public Relations Committee provides support to all organizations within the church for the promotion of events, activities, and missions.
